The congregation at Moneydig Presbyterian Church (Coleraine, Northern Ireland) wanted a website to help communicate details of events and goings-on in their church. The task was to create a basic website which could extend to the needs of the church.
Design
The colour scheme and layout is designed to be clean, clear and easy to read. light colours and well spaced text gives a light and airy feel, much like the inside of the church building. The church wanted a website which would be easily updated and able to handle photos and audio, such as podcasting.
Development
The website uses WordPress as a content management system. This makes it quick and easy for church members to update and amend the information on the website. WordPress mixes a top-end blogging and news publishing platform with easy to use web-based website editor. A custom made template was created for the Wordpress install. This gives the website a unique design.
Implementation
JustHost Web Hosting was chosen as the host for the website. This includes a domain-for-live and includes unlimited web space and bandwidth. This means that however big or popular the website becomes, it will not have to be moved. Each organisation in the church was given it's own page, and individuals selected to keep them up-to-date. The "about us" section has been popular with search engines - especially the genealogy section.
The initial content was added by members of the Moneydig Campaigner's Group who were also responsible for choosing the design and now help to maintain the website.
